My 10 Things That Make Me Happy

Published by mswrite at 2:47 pm under Change, Dreams & Aspriations, Life Edit This

I’ve decided that rather than just acknowledge 5 things, that I would make a list of 10 things. Simply because the list of 5 were all so creatively driven, I wanted to see if I could add a bit more balance to it.

  1. Writing - Non-business writing that is.
  2. Live music.
  3. Taking pictures.
  4. Posting videos of my poetry on youtube.
  5. Being outdoors.
  6. Talking with my friends.
  7. Having a clean house.
  8. Yoga
  9. Facials and putting on make-up.
  10. Learning something new.

So, that’s my list as of today. They are all things that I am currently doing, though some not even remotely as often as others. As I created the list, I realized that I haven’t been doing any of them on a consistent basis. I’ve been simply dabbling in them. Well then, what have I been spending my time doing? Sadly, watching tv and pointlessly surfing the net. I will say though, my pointless surfing did land me a few great websites that I’ve added to my arsenal, so I guess pointless isn’t quite the word. A big time waster though!

It occurs to me that there used to be other things in my life that made me happy. Spending time in front of my easel, curling up on the couch with a sketchpad, reading a good novel on the weekends - I haven’t really indulged in those. I’m sure there are others hidden in the recesses of my mind. I intend to rediscover them.

One of the websites I came across during my aimless surfing isall about change and how to make changes occur in your life in the first 30 days . I went back to it last night and signed for a  daily tip on how to create happiness. Change is difficult to make. The first thirty days of a change are often the most difficult, so it makes sense to me that a daily email tip/reminder would be beneficial. I also signed up for one on how to meditate.  Let’s see how they go.

Now, looking at my list of the ten things that make me happy, the number one item is writing.  This would seem to be a no-brainer for me, but somehow I’ve let my writing go by the wayside. Blogging about this process should help that aspect.  The others I will address in another post, as I just received my daily emails and want to mull those over.
